Light is the soul of the stage. Where a fixture sits, at what angle, and how bright it burns decides the mood of the whole show — whether it’s a concert, theater, gala, wedding, or club night. A stage is never just “bright.” It is built from layers of light positions that highlight the performer, carve out shape, and tell the story. Here are the seven positions you will use most, matched to a VSHOW fixture for each job.
1. Front Light — Even, Clean Illumination on the Face
Front light comes from above the audience and points straight at the stage. Its job is simple: light the performer’s face and lay down the base wash for the whole show. Clean color, an even spot, and high color fidelity matter here so skin tones look natural under camera.
Recommended:
– S710 Image 800W Moving Head Profile (BSWF): CRI Ra≥90, a uniform 120mm lens spot, 3°–55° zoom, and a high refresh rate that stays flicker-free on HD cameras — ideal for flattering face light.

2. Side Light — Dimension from the Wings
Placed on both sides of the proscenium and aimed in at an angle, side light supports front light and adds depth to faces and scenery instead of a flat, washed look.
Recommended:
– G63 Prime 450W IP66 Beam Spot Wash 3-in-1 (CMY + CTO): waterproof and tough, so it works just as well for outdoor side truss as indoor theater.

3. Top Light — General Coverage and Focused Spots
Top light hangs in rows above the stage and points down. It raises overall brightness and picks out set pieces and props with a clean, defined beam.
Recommended:
– S600 Genus 1000W LED Waterproof Cutting Light (BSWF, IP65): a 4-blade cutting system that rotates ±60° to frame sharp edges on props and backdrops, with CMY color for rich saturation.

4. Backlight — The Outline That Separates the Performer
Cast from behind the stage, backlight draws a bright rim around the figure, adds separation from the background, and gives the scene transparency and depth. A tight, sharp beam is what makes this effect read.
Recommended:
– G45 Optic 420W IP66 Sharp Beam: USHIO source, CMY + CTO, built to survive outdoor backlight rigs.

5. Bridge Light — Fill the Angles Front and Side Reach Can’t
Mounted on the side galleries, bridge light supports side light, adds further dimension, and covers directions that front and top light simply cannot reach.
Recommended:
– S712 Kuan 450W Hybrid: an energy-efficient LED alternative for regular gallery coverage.

6. Foot Light — Soft Fill for the Chin and Jaw
Sitting low on the stage lip and aiming upward, foot light fills the hard shadows that high-mounted front light throws under the chin and jaw. Mounted as a low bar across the front edge, it delivers gentle, even fill.
Recommended:
– B1060S 10×60W RGBW 4-in-1 Moving Bar Zoom: zoomable beam plus built-in strobe lines for soft fill with extra punch.

7. Follow Spot — The Hero’s Spotlight
Used from the audience area or a dedicated booth, follow spot tracks the active performer and throws a single focused beam on the key moment — the finishing touch that says “look here.”
Recommended:
– T913 Potency 420W Sharpy Beam or G45 420W IP66 Beam: long-throw brightness to lock onto a performer across a large arena.

Build One Coherent System, Not a Pile of Fixtures
Each position has a job, and the best shows come from layering them rather than repeating the same fixture everywhere: profile and wash for front and top, sharp beam for backlight and follow spot, hybrid units for the side and gallery, and low bars for foot fill. VSHOW covers every layer — BSWF profiles, sharp beams, hybrid moving heads, zoom washes, and moving bars — all CE and RoHS certified, with most best sellers in stock for fast delivery.
